Shopping for Hope

The second annual Shopping For Hope event will be held on May 8, 2019 at Woodway Country Club in Darien CT.

Last year’s event was such as success we expect this year to be a sold-out event!
The event was a huge success and attracted a sold-out crowd of 230 at a luncheon and shopping afternoon.

This year, 25 upscale vendors will offer a large variety of goods and services and 15 percent of their sales will go to Hackers For Hope.  In particular, a portion of the proceeds will go to Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Ovarian Cancer Research including their “liquid biopsy which will test for cancer with a simple blood test.  This test aids in creating a more personalized treatment if the patient test positive for the ctDNA.

Dr. Elizabeth Jewell, Director of Surgery MSK Monmouth and Basking Ridge, will be in attendance.  The event will also support her work on a procedure to be used in ovarian surgery that will test for the most minute cancer particles to ensure the most thorough and successful outcome.  Dr. Jewell will speak about some of the research being done at MSKCC to advance the treatment of ovarian cancer, the fifth most common cause of cancer death in American women.

Anne Thompson, NBC News Chief Environmental Affairs Correspondent and cancer survivor will also address the audience and give an inspiring message about fighting cancer.
